Marcus Charles Illions Carousel Horse
American, Coney Island Style. Very early park paint.
Marcus Charles Illions was born in Russia, emigrated to England where he apprenticed in the carving of English carousel figures and then moved again to Brooklyn, New York where he went on to create many fairground masterpieces. This interesting - and seldem seen - middle row stander has very early park paint (although there might even be traces of original Illions Studio paint).
